The life of a magician
Leon Etienne is an accomplished Magical Arts Performer.
His interest in the art of magic began at the age of twelve, when Etienne recalls, "My mother
had grounded me and sent me to my room where I quickly became bored. I came across a book of magic
tricks that I had received as a gift, and I opened it up and read. After some practice, trial and
error, and some more practice, I was ready to give my first magic performance. I emerged from my
room and performed the trick for my mother. To my amazement, the trick worked! The true magic,
though, was that mom forgot she had grounded me! Ever since that day, I have been hooked on magic."
One year later, at the age of thirteen, while playing in a baseball game, Etienne was very lucky to have
survived being struck by lightning (click here to learn more). "My friends and family like to joke and say that after the lightning
struck, magical things started to happen wherever I went. I don't know if that's true, but I do know that
being struck by lightning sure does hurt!"
Today, Etienne has over ten years of professional performing experience. His love and passion for the art of
magic has taken him all over the globe, performing nationally in entertainment hotspots across the U.S. and
internationally in Ireland, Wales, Australia, and at the world-famous magic circle in London, England. Etienne's performances have won him several
prestigious awards, including CNY Magician of the Year from the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Ring 101,
and Stage Magic Champion from the Magicians' Alliance of Eastern States.
Etienne has also had the honor of performing as the opening act for several major national recording artists. He has
opened for Billboard's Heatseekers Chart #1 artist Eric Hutchinson, as well as for the platinum-selling Blue Oyster Cult.
More cowbell, anyone?
When Etienne is not performing, he is constantly striving to learn new techniques and improve his current skills.
In addition to developing his own original magic effects, Etienne has spent time learning from the modern-day
masters of magic, some of which include Juan Tamariz and Derren Brown. Etienne is also one of only 200 magicians
worldwide who attend Fechter's Finger Flicking Frolic, an annual "by-invitation-only" magic convention that offers
a chance to study and perform with the world's best magicians.
Currently, Etienne stars in his own critically acclaimed illusion show, "The Art of Magic." This two hour,
family friendly production, which has been selling out major theatres to rave reviews, features Vegas-style
illusions and Etienne's award winning sleight-of-hand.
